I don’t know about you, but January is right around the time I’m ready to make some adjustments to our school day, and I’m itching to create a bit more of a minimalist homeschool. We’ve gotten a few months under our belts and I have a pretty good idea of what’s working and what needs to change. So I’m adding and tossing curriculum and routines, and taking a good look at these kiddos and myself and what we really need to work on in the new year. It will come as no surprise to anyone that the things we really need to work on isn’t more math or reading, but character traits like patience and perseverance.
Not only that, but Christmas has brought in an influx of toys and clutter that needs to find a home (sometimes nowhere in this one!) and I can’t seem to wrap my mind around jumping back into our next term when there is stuff EVERYWHERE.
So, we are purging. And reflecting. And getting really focussed on what’s important and what’s just getting in the way of our joy and peace. Over the next 31 days I am going to slowly chip away at the things that are hindering our family culture, and hopefully by the end we will have a minimalist homeschool that meets all of our needs and is free of burdens. Sounds nice, doesn’t it? I hope you’ll join me as I work away at it!
Check back tomorrow for our first project – Toys!
